The Lost Postcards of Odysseus: Grade 9
In this project, students create a series of postcards from Odysseus to his beloved wife Penelope. The postcards are written about his many adventures and mishaps, and ask students to analyze how Odysseus might be feeling, and also whether or not all of his actions are necessarily heroic.

What The World Needs Now: Grade 9

Students research a topic relating to the earth's environment and develop an original thesis of how to help solve the problem. In addition to writing a thesis based research paper, students create public service announcements, informative websites and write children's books using In Design software. When my freshman class completed the books, we went them, through an organization called Books of Hope, to a school in northern Uganda that was lacking educaitonal materials. The Voice of Vignette: Grade 10

In an effort to learn about the purpose of history and the role perspective plays in the subject, students will write their own histories. They will have an opportunity to write from an autobiographical perspective, then interview people who know them well to see of their views about themselves or personal events in life are skewed.

Revolutionary Photography: Grade 10

Following the footseps of artist, Elanore Antin, students will read about, research and write about a revolution of their choice in conjunction with learning about the Russian revolution through reading Orwell's Animal Farm as a class. When research is complete, students will work in groups the create scenes, events or symbolic moments from the revolutions they studied to photograph. The portraits will be designed and photographed by students and will be exhibited at Festival Del Sol.

Calling All Gods and Goddesses: Grade 9

Students worked in groups to write plays about a Greek mythological story of one of the twelve Olympian gods. They then created costumes, props and backdrops and performed their plays in front of elementary students as well as a second performance for parents and students.
